Re: A question for the Appalachia faithful....
I just don't see them going anywhere else in our area. We are the central location for a some surrounding counties. I can't stand to go up there for the fact that is it packed all the time, the only good time to go is in the middle of the night.
As far as how to attract more companies to this area, that I can't answer.

No one else has either. Don't feel bad.
Re: A question for the Appalachia faithful....
I don't think they'll move and stay within our area...I think as the economy continues to sour, they may move away altogether. They, in my opinion, must stay close to the major population areas. And that leaves us out. How did their stock do last qtr?
Re: A question for the Appalachia faithful....
Their stock dwindled somewhat but I didn't see in my bi-weekly run that it was drastic. I always joke with people and say that at least half my salary goes to Wal-Mart, I just don't see them "struggling" in our area, even though our population is small, we do some mad shopping at the Wally-World.
Re: A question for the Appalachia faithful....
Wow.... I'm really impressed that we can take a topic regarding Coach Austin's job performance, and move toward a conversation concerning the economic disposition of Norton city. This has been quite a tangent.

The City runs off the sales taxes- it doesn't matter what the jobs pay as long as the products are sold from Norton.
Re: A question for the Appalachia faithful....
Coach Roger is a nice guy and knows football. Not an easy task following Tom Turner. Overall he's done as good job, two years is not enough to judge a coach on, give him time and he'll have Appy back to where they need to be, if consolidation comes along then it won't really matter.

Didn't know that. Thought he left here and took a job as a Walmart Mgr. in TN somewhere.
Re: A question for the Appalachia faithful....
he did but the opportunity came along at the right time and he made the switch.
